Make money online: How to add Google AdSense step-by-step to Blogger BlogSpot with screenshots

If you want to make some income on the side from Google adverts with Google AdSense then you've come to the right place. Below are 20 step-by-step guides on what to do to earn income from Google adverts. Without further ado, let's go straight to the point.

The assumption here is that you already have a Google AdSense Account. If not, you can sign up here - https://www.google.com/adsense/signup

But check the terms and conditions. One of them is that your website should at least 6 months old (and that’s as at the time of this blog). Things change all the time; so have a look first.

A second assumption is that you have a Blogger (BlogSpot) account. To optimise returns from your blog, ensure you implement SEO optimisation techniques on your website and blog. You'll also need to digital marketing to promote your blog to increase traffic. Also link your social media accounts to enhance digital marketing efficiency. If you don't have a Blogger BlogSpot account, you can set one up here - https://www.blogspot.com/

You can also sign up for Google AdSense from your BlogSpot account as indicated below.

1) Sign in to Blogger.
2) If you want to link an existing Google AdSense account, first sign into it.
3) From the top left menu of your BlogSpot dashboard, select the blog you want to work on.
4) Open a new web browser tab and sign into your existing Google AdSense account if you haven't done that already.

5) In the left menu of your selected blog, click Earning. Then Click Sign up for AdSense. See below screenshot

6) In the next window, you should see the Google AdSense account you are already signed into. Select it. Otherwise sign up for AdSense.
7) In the next window, you should see your BlogSpot URL already pre-populated under Your website. If not, go ahead and type it in.

8) Next, click Accept Association, below your URL.

9) You’ll see a redirection onscreen notification. Wait for it to complete

10) When done you’ll see another onscreen message. Congratulations!
11) Click Continue to get back to your blog dashboard.
12) Within Earnings menu, you’ll now see Show ads on blog (yes) already selected.

13) Click Customise further with Advanced Ad Set-up on bottom right per the screenshot. This should take you to Layout settings.

14) Otherwise, on the Menu list, click Layout.
15) The Settings from your AdSense account should pre-populate automatically. If like me you selected Experiments in your AdSense account, they should appear here under Page list (top).

16) Management of AdSense Account is outside the scope of this blog but here’s a quick tip. In your AdSense account Menu, click Optimization, Experiments. Turn on the button that says “We may run automatic experiments on a small percentage of your traffic to find new opportunities.” This is a good way to start out. You can turn it off and create your own Ad Units or create a new Experiment later on.

17) If you haven’t set up Experiments from your Google AdSense account, Click Add a Gadget from your BlogSpot Layout Menu.
18) Select the AdSense gadget and click Add.

19) Configure AdSense and click Save. This will take you back to Layout settings.
20) In the top right, click Save arrangement.

That's it! You're all done and on your way to your first million. Ads should start to appear on your blog within 30 minutes if not immediately. Preview your blog to see what it looks like.

You can change the placement of your advert from Layout. See steps 14) and 18) above. Play around with it and click on Preview from your Blogger dashboard to see what it looks like.

To boost your revenue, you'll need to do some digital marketing. Share your blog on your social media accounts and in groups. Share your story and let people know about it.

Monitor your stats and performance from your Google AdSense account.

All the best!
